For a medical article, we will select a linguist who has prior experience with similar documents and expertise in the subject matter. If required, we can discuss the translation of specific terms with you. Partial translation is available. We can format the translation in a simplified manner or as a precise replica of the original layout.

Medical Article Translation — Pricing

The cost of translating an article is based on its word count. The price may be higher if:

  • The text contains highly specialized terminology.
  • The translation involves transferring graphs, illustrations, or tables, which may require additional layout or formatting work.

If the article includes repeated text, we offer a discount of up to 60% for translating these repetitions.

$0.10 / word
Common languages are the most popular ones (like English, French, German, Spanish etc.). There are lots of Russian translators of these languages, that is why we can offer lower rates.
Rare languages
Into Russian
$0.10 / word
From Russian
$0.15 / word
There are languages that only few translators work with, such as Icelandic, Japanese, or Pashto. We call them rare languages and charge more to translate from or into them.

We Will Assign an Experienced Specialist

We carefully identify the subject matter of your medical article and assign a translator with expertise in that specific field.

To ensure the best fit, we use a specialized algorithm to select a translator who:

  • Has proven experience translating medical articles.
  • Receives consistently high ratings from our editors.
  • Meets deadlines and translation requirements reliably.
Not every medical professional is an expert in all fields and specialties. A translator who excels at surgical texts may not be equally skilled with pharmacology articles. That’s why we carefully match your project not just with a medical translator, but with one who has expertise in your specific medical field or specialty.
Ekaterina Gaidadym, SPB Translations project manager
By the way If you plan to publish your translated medical article for a broad audience, we can involve a native speaker as the translator or editor. This ensures the text reads more natural and fluent.

We Can Coordinate Terminology Translation

If necessary, we can coordinate the translation of terms, abbreviations, names, and acronyms with you.

For this, we will create a glossary and provide you with access. You can make edits and leave comments regarding translation choices.

If you already have a terminology glossary, please share it when placing your order. The translator will follow your preferred terms. You can also provide previously translated texts on the same medical topic, allowing us to maintain consistency across all materials. This ensures that terms are translated identically in both new and existing content, preventing any confusion.
Ekaterina Tsaryova, SPB Translations project manager

We Can Translate Partially

Please inform us in advance if certain sections of the medical article do not require translation.

However, please note that the minimum order for written translation is 250 source words.

Often the bibliography/reference list does not need translation. Firstly, it's not always required for conference presentations. Secondly, it may be impractical, as translating source titles can make them difficult or impossible to locate. If a client still needs the bibliography included, when translating into a foreign language, we will transliterate the source title and provide the original in parentheses.

We Format the Translation According to Requirements

We offer two formatting options to choose from: Basic and Identical Layout ("One-to-One").

Basic Formatting is included in the base price and is suitable if the translation does not need to match the original layout exactly. We preserve basic text formatting (emphasis, paragraphs, sections) but will not place images and tables. Text from graphic elements will be provided in captions or notes.

На примере вариант упрощенного оформления перевода медицинской статьи:

  • Изображения упразднены.
  • Расположение текста не точь-в-точь повторяет оригинальное, так как в переводе отсутствуют изображения, а еще в русском языке больше символов, чем в английском.

Identical Layout is a paid service, ideal when:

  • The translation must meet specific requirements from a publisher, conference organizer, or similar (please provide the exact formatting guidelines).
  • The translated document must be an exact visual replica of the original.
  • Graphs, images, and diagrams need to be transferred into the translation, with any text replaced by the translated content.
